I am a member of Generation X.  I’m in my 40’s and live in the Chicago area with my husband of 20 plus years and two young sons.  We own a home.  We have two cats.  My parents have both had health scares in recent years, so I am increasingly involved with monitoring their welfare.  I was laid off from my dream job last year and now clock in at a different place.

So we, the Gen Xers, are being displaced into mid-life these days.   And seeing as how we never have liked to do life like the people ahead of us, what should mid-life look like for me?  Sandwiched between caring for the husband and kids and between the aging parents, oh and the other piece of bread, the job?
